By car from the North: From the A1 take the A61 to Thirsk then follow the A170 towards Helmsley. Before Helmsley turn right onto the B1257 and follow the brown signs for Castle Howard. Drive through the Castle Howard estate as far as the Obelisk roundabout and turn right, signed to The Arboretum.

By car from the South: Exit from the A1M at Junction 45 and follow the A64 east past York and then follow the brown signs for Castle Howard. Pass through the Estate walls and turn left at the Obelisk roundabout, signed to The Arboretum.

Parking: Ample, free parking is available at the event. Please follow the signs and stewards' directions when you arrive.

By public transport: Details of the bus services operating in the area can be found here. It is only a short walk from the Castle Howard bus stop to the Wild About Wood festival.

Dogs: Dogs are very welcome at Wild About Wood, but must be kept on a lead at all times.

Accessibility: We regret that the terrain of the arboretum is not suitable for wheelchair access, or for visitors with very limited mobility. Please select footwear suitable for uneven, grassy ground.

Programme timetable: Our programme runs continuously throughout each day and there's no strict timetable of events so you're free to explore at your own pace. The only elements of the festival that run at specific times are:

Birds of prey - display each day at 2pm

Watercolour painting - workshops at 1pm (14 yrs+) and 3pm (up to 13yrs) each day. Please book directly with the artist
